Mass, Drawing Intensive

Exhibition Dates: 21 April – 12 May 2024
Opening Night: Tuesday 23 April, 6:30-8:00pm
Mass, Drawing Intensive is an ambitious exhibition of artwork based on the nude human figure. The exhibition will feature artworks created by eight Banyule Artists during a three-day drawing intensive held inside the Loft 275 gallery space.
The drawing intensive is inspired by a similar immersive program offered by the New York Studio School (NYSS) in the USA.
Artists are encouraged to investigate how they interpretate the world through processes of image making. To do this they are challenged to step outside of their normal ways of creating art. They bravely experiment with scale, new materials, techniques and ways of seeing and portraying the human form.
The resulting exhibition will include works that are raw and uncensored, unable to be altered once the intensive program is over.
This project is proudly supported by a Banyule Council Arts & Culture Project Grant

Artist-in-Residence: 17 April – 12 May 2024
The artists involved in Mass, Drawing Intensive, will also be in residence in the studios, creating and developing other works during this time.
